Our School
The Loftus Early Childhood Center provides FREE services to three and four-year-old children through the Title One Preschool and Early Childhood Special Education Programs. In addition, the Early Childhood Center provides FREE services to eligible families with children from prenatal through age four in the Parents As Teachers Program.
The Early Childhood Center began with the 1991-1992 school year and continues as a cooperative effort among the six public school districts in Pettis County including Sedalia #200 Schools; Green Ridge R- V III; LaMonte R-IV; Pettis County R-V (Hughesville/Houstonia); Smithton R-VI; and Pettis County R-XII (Dresden ).

We are so excited to welcome you and your child to Loftus Early Childhood Center! As we begin a new school year, we look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s growth, learning, and development.
At The Loftus, our teaching is rooted in real-world experiences and carried out with love and compassion. Our dedicated teachers and staff are guided daily by our core values: teamwork, integrity, growth, relationships, and compassion. While we recognize that we are not perfect in any one of these values, we continually strive to be better at each one.
This year promises to be filled with learning and exploration. While academics are a key part of our program, we also focus on helping children develop the social-emotional skills they need to succeed — such as being ready to learn, building positive relationships, and managing emotions.
One important way you can support your child’s success is by ensuring consistent attendance. Children thrive when they are present and engaged, and daily attendance helps build routines and confidence that set the foundation for lifelong learning.
